Reincarnation the gimmick in lifeless crime drama

Reincarnation, once largely the province of Hindus and Shirley MacLaine, collides with the world of crime procedurals in "Past Life," which premieres on Tuesday at 9 p.m. EST/PST.


In this Fox series from David Hudgins, murders are solved through the recollection of memory fragments of a past that occurred before birth.


Far-fetched? Very. So much so that Hudgins and the writers need to include at least one scene in each episode to allay most viewers' obvious doubts, and they do.

Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt are suing tabloid over breakup story

Game on! Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are taking legal action against the British tabloid News of the World for its story last month that alleged the couple were working out details of a split.

Pete Townshend: Nice to be part of spectacle

Pete Townshend is used to playing in front of stadiums filled with rabid fans who know every note of The Who's songs. He didn't get that at the band's Super Bowl halftime performance, but he's OK with that too.


Townshend and bandmate Roger Daltrey performed a medley of some of their most famous songs on entertainment's biggest stage Sunday, including "Won't Get Fooled Again" during a 12-minute set that included a laser-lit stage and plenty of fireworks.
